To get a better idea on how these are put together-Click photo to enlarge
The pumpkins on the left and right are made out of grapevine-I did not make the grapevine pumpkins but bought them. You can purchase them at craft stores, I've even seen them at Walmart and Target.
I put orange lights (home Depot/Walmart) in them & topped the pumpkins off with sheer bows which reflect the light. I also added some small leaves around the top with clear beads that seem to dance in the light.
The small pumpkin in the middle is the same glass brick I used in yesterday's craft but smaller with a hole out the back instead of the top. I didn't have to drill the hole it was already there. You can purchase the glass bricks at Lowe's and most all craft stores now. I had to use battery operated lights in this one~Which is nice because you can sit it anywhere. I dyed inexpensive cheesecloth a bright orange then covered it, gathering the cheesecloth at the top, wiring it together and adding rustic leaves.

I've noticed that this idea has been pinned on Pinterest saying to use a grapevine ball and make your own stem so it would be half the price. I think that's a wonderful idea but have yet to find a grapevine sphere that was big enough at a decent price. The spheres I have found are sparse on grapevine with lots of open gaps in them in which the lighting wires would show too much. So if anyone knows where we can find the grapevine spheres at a inexpensive price, please leave a comment under this post so we can all join in on the savings!
I buy my grapevine pumpkins using a 40 to 50% off coupon at Micheals and JoAnn's. You can also find grapevine pumpkins at Walmart for a decent price. Many times these pumpkins go on sale right after Halloween and always after Thanksgiving.
Robin- These are fabulous! I adore the grapevine pumpkins! And the orange cheesecloth turned out beautifully! You are AMAZING!:-) Lori
ReplyDeleteIts getting close to October. Cute stuff. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBye bye.♥☺♥
Those are absolutely FABULOUS....I have never thought to put those kind of lights in the pumpkins like that...DUH!! I am so glad I discovered blogging friends!
ReplyDeleteI am on my way to Joannes now. Where is the coupon? Love these. Thanks for being so generous. m
ReplyDeleteI just read your profile and you and I are a lot a like. The same age, the same loves. I don't have grandkids yet because we did not get out first child until I was 33. Had such a hard time getting him here.
ReplyDeleteBTW, how do you put the whole in the top? thanks, m
You are so on a roll here. I am loving the fall theme and Christmas theme. It is so exciting. I love those pumpkins. Everything you do is so doable and great. I love your music too. Really nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet commments. They make us both smile. Mattie loves yours too. Flute together.
Thanks Lori, Miss Mattie and Darlene!
ReplyDeleteMechelle, Yes, I believe we are very much alike. The picture you put of the girl running on your blog yesterday or today I have! I laughed when I saw it! On the glass blocks the holes are already in them. You'll see when you get them how it will work. On the big blocks the cord will have to come out the top-This is not a problem it goes right down the back real nice.
Jan: Happy Birthday! Thanks for all the compliments. I think it's super great Mattie is taking up the flute...I told my husband I wanted to take it up again because I read that playing the flute cuts asthmatics risk of having an asthma attack by up to 70% (Good percentage) :)
Robin,
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty!! Oh, and I am counting down the days to find out who my partner is for your stocking swap!!
Elise
so cute! i do something similar to the grapevine ones... but i love them all grouped together!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE them! I go crazy for fall decorations and pumpkins are at the top of my list! They look amazing with all the lights inside them!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous Robin! Do you collect your own grapevine? I have lots of vine around here, not grape exactly, and was wondering if it could be put to good use.
ReplyDeleteFunny--I do play the flute! I read your response to Jan and giggled. I play the flute in church every week. Which makes me the new designated shofar blower. Everyone is always amazed that I have that much lung compacity....
Have a great weekend!
ROBON ROCKS THE HOUSE AGAIN!!! and AGAIN!!!!

HI Ladies,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments on this easy craft.
I want to answer some of your questions and comments:
Elise: One more week and you will know who your partner is! :)
Kelly & Ashley: Hi so nice you've both been stopping by. Thanks
Amy: You probably have the lung capacity of a great runner! I think it's so cool you know how to blow the shofar-I have a friend that does too. I bet your flute sounds wonderful at church!
I don't grow grapevine though my neighbor does. I do have a lot of it and use it for all sorts of crafts-If you get it wet you can bend it any shape. FYI! :)
Merrianne: I think it's perfect for you to have a craft day-I will be showing some kids crafts on here too real soon!
Take care everyone and have a great 3 day weekend!
Robin~♥

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteYes, they look great with the lights inside. I'll have to try that. Thanks for visiting my blog! Nice to meet you.
Brandee :-)
I love all your pumpkins but what a great idea for the grapevine ones. Way cool. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePam
OK...how did you make the hole or cut the glass brick to get the lights and or flowers inside the brick?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous:
ReplyDeleteThe hole was already there. You can buy these "craft bricks" now at Lowes with a nice size hole in the top and a piggy bank plug for the hole. I had a friend who got one without the whole and her husband had to use a diamond drill bit to make the whole in it.
Hi Robin's nest!
ReplyDeleteI was just 'googling' stuff for my wedding next fall and came across your blog of these beautiful pumpkins. They are exactly what i want to use as centerpiences!! Can you tell me how you made them??? My email is amy.pereira@gmail.com..please help!!
Melody, I will Email you like I did Amy, but will also answer your questions here just in case anybody else is wondering the same thing. I did NOT make the pumpkins. You can buy them at Walmart, Target, Michaels and JoAnns for a pretty decent price. I've seen them as low as $7. The trick is to grab them up just after Halloween or Thanksgiving. I just put lights in them and topped them with a bow and others fall embellishments.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice compliments~Hope you find some for a decent price. You may have to buy them one at a time with a craft coupon.
