King & Queen Of Day Trips...

My husband & I are the king and queen of day trips. We have been know to travel hundreds of miles then drive back home the same day.

Yesterday we went to "our mountain" ~ Mt Rainier. It's not far from where we live-It's actually just out our front door. We spent most the day hiking and enjoying God's great wonders.

Down in the lowland fall is setting in and the trees are starting to turn color. But the mountains must have not received that memo, because it was nothing but spring up there~ Below are some photo's to prove it!

Purple Mountain Majesty

Hello sunshine!

Spring has sprung!

It seemed like everybody had the same idea we had yesterday-The mountain had hikers all over it-There was a bear sighting too. We aren't really into crowds so we drove down the mountain to a hiking spot that few know. This spot is usually very shady and cold with a beautiful little creek running down the side of the hill. We were shocked by what we saw when we got there. A wind storm had knocked over half the trees-The fallen tree's even changed the dynamics of the creek-It just wasn't the same. As you can see by the photo's below the rangers have already been in there trying to clean it up.

  1. I bet it was beautiful...so sad that so many beautiful trees were knocked down by the wind. My hubby and I used to take day trips all the time...esp. when we lived in California. You could get to the ocean, the lake, snow skiing, gambling all within a few hours of where we lived. I miss that (though I can't say I miss California exactly). Lexi is horrible for many day trips....doesn't like to ride in the car for too long...she might be missing something at home....whatever......

Oh, and I am glad I gave you and your mom a laugh with my comment...can you tell I am kind of stingy??? Its MINE all MINE..lol

  2. Just breath taking Robin. I don't live by any mountains and have never seen them in person. You are so lucky to live that close. I'm jealous.

Hmmm... what do we do? We went canoeing this summer to get away. My hubby and I don't get to do many things by ourselves as I feel guilty leaving the kids behind.

  3. Just beautiful Robin! We live near the Uniontown mountains, sometimes we take off and go there and stop at the country stores and also to eat:) Last year we drove to Deep Creek Maryland and really had a good time, so we do try to get away once in a whild. Friday night is out date night and the weekends in the summer are spent on our boat:)

  4. It is so beautiful there. It just doesn't cut it for us Eastners. We see it, but don't really. I am so glad you shared your mountain with us. Looks so fun. Love the flowers too. Mattie will go crazy for them.

You guys look so cute with the nature surrounding you like that. Blessed yesterday :)

  5. I'm so glad you guys got a change to spend some time together out in nature, as I know you love it. Me- I'm more of an "inside" girl, you know, but I do love taking pictures.:-) (For some reason I am always the one to "find" the poison ivy and ticks!!) Love the picture of you and Tim together. Did you use a tripod? Lori

  6. Lori,
I didn't use a tripod-A guy was walking by and I asked him if he would take our picture (we have so few together) He looked at my camera funny and I told him not to worry-I put it on automatic-Just point and shoot! -I have never run into poison ivy or ticks the 4 years we have hiked over here in Seattle. Though I'm sure we have them... I probably wouldn't hike either if I had to deal with that stuff! I don't mind the bears but hate the idea of poison ivy!

  7. What a nice pic of you two! MY DH and I love to long drive out in the country and just see where roads take us. Depending on the season we may stop at an orchard, or an ice cream stand or for hot chocolate if we are lucky!! Having GPS makes it easy these days and we are even more adventerous LOL!

  10. We have a few local hikes we like to go on. That big windstorm last winter knocked a lot of trees down though, and we have seen many changes in our favorite hiking spots because of it.

  16. Your pictures are so pretty. My husband & I used to go off hiking all the time before kids..
Ok- I want to know how you lost so much weight forever ago. You mentioned it on Pam's blog & I so need to lose weight.
Also I have a friend that's husband has Celiac's disease & can't eat gluten. She has tons of great recipes. To what I hear she is a awesome cook. She hasn't had us over for dinner in awhile since this whole gluten free stuff!!! You can check out her site & ask her about it if you want. She's Cindy under my friends. She'll be going private sometime soon. But if you ask she'll invite you..

  22. Oh Robin, what beautiful scenery you have to look at, the flowers are breath taking I can just imagine how they are in real life!

What a terrible thing to go thur but yes God doesn't close one door without opening another although at the time we as humans don't see that.

I can't wait to try the bows...I've always envisoned a Christmas tree with packages under it with those beautiful bows on them, I'm on the lookout now for wire ribbon at GW and the fleamarket. I think I got a really good deal at the fleamarket Sunday on that roll of Christmas ribbon.

Just won something on Ebay for the Christmas Stocking giveaway, this is so neat to do:)
    Have a great day!

  25. I love the Tim on Timber! I have a friend that used to make her teen-age daughters get in the car and ride with her somewhere so they could have time to talk. Of course, that was before cell phones! However, traveling together does give you quality time.
