1. West Virginia: 1 in 42 (Who'd thought?)
2. Iowa: 1 in 67
3. Michigan: 1 in 70
4. South Dakota: 1 in 76
5. Montana: 1 in 82
I was shocked that Washington was a low risk state -I've hit a deer and know many others here that have too. Then again, we do spend a lot of time in the mountains.
Check out Hawaii's odds 1 in 13,011~ HA!
Have a great weekend, watch out for deer West Virginians!
(All info from State Farm Insurance)
Hmm..interesting. My dad just hit a big buck last week and my mom hit a deer in May. Keeping my fingers crossed I'm not next! (We live in SD).
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Important info here. I hit a deer once and it wasn't fun!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting indeed!!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Florida and we have hit many deer in our time..and so have many friends! Alligators too..haha!
ReplyDeleteI live in Oklahoma now and have not hit one yet or seen one either..we used to see them alot in Florida...My son did hit a huge boar about two years ago..he is lucky to be alive.
It is scary to hit one and sad too!
I have hit a deer, too. It kept on running but I had to pull over because I was so shaken about hurting the poor thing! Not too much damage to the car but I had to drive a truck while it was being fixed! I am SO not a truck girl! tee hee... Love you, Sis!:) Lori
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting tidbit of info. I too was surprised by the results.
ReplyDeleteYeah...we live on the Kitsap Peninsula & nearly hit a deer one summer evening while on our motorcycle. We've also scooped up dead ones off the highway & buried them on our property...Sad.
ReplyDeleteand here in Wisconsin too......
ReplyDeleteEveryone I know has hit at least one deer. Some people have hit several. When my kids got a little older I taught them to help me watch for those little buggers on the sides of the road.
That is interesting! I am very careful when I drive around here--there's usually 3-4 deer who hang out in the lot across the street. Sometimes I've seen more.
ReplyDeleteArizona is low too! But I think it should be higher in Northern AZ then it is in southern AZ! And here in Buckeye AZ it should be almost zero! Since I have never seen a deer here!
ReplyDeleteInteresting post, Thx!
Hmmmm :)
ReplyDeleteI hit one within my first few years of driving and IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! (it ran, so who knows how much damage I inflicted on it??) But whenever I see one on the side of the road, it always takes me to the "we're taking their land away" comments. I know my area is certainly highly developed today, from what I was when I was a child. And it seems there is no end in sight. :(
ReplyDeleteHi Robin
ReplyDeleteThat's so interesting. I wonder what the odds would be in England. 1 in a million probably. For a hedgehog 1 in 20!

Just a couple of weeks ago, my hairstylist hit a deer and totalled her car! She was not a happy camper, but very thankful she didn't get hurt. The deer wasn't as lucky. :(
ReplyDeleteUtah surprises me too. THere are lots of deer in Utah. wierd.
ReplyDeleteHave hit a deer and it's not an experience I want to go through again!
ReplyDeleteThis kind of surprised me too. I see them on the road all the time.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO funny! I have had many many near misses in WA... near misses that brought me to tears! Maybe if we had an opossum risk map... I guess that is perspective then... right? Love your Christmas counter!! cute!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA...1-160!
ReplyDeleteI've hit 5 deer since I've been 16! My hubs has hit 7!
We must be the unlucky people...lol.
I wouls say we should be HIGH risk..not Medium!
thats intersting. I see deer all the time in washington I wonder if it is more related to how people drive rather then the amount of deer in the area.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear we are in a low-risk state...I hope to go through my entire life with out meeting a deer in this way!
ReplyDeleteWhat's interesting is some of the states that are high risk don't seem like they would be...
