I'll be turning the big 50 in a couple of years. I feel I am ready for it I had my big midlife crisis at the young age of 30!?!
I am however, concerned about brittle bones and truthfully will fight sagging skin for as long as I can.
Hey, I'm just keeping it real.
So when I saw this article on The LiveWell Network called "Mirror Mirror" promoting six weeks to sleeveless I HAD to go over and check it out.

Then I was reading a segment in Woman's Day magazine called "Love your age"
(June 2012 issue page 82)
They wrote about aging necks and gave some advice on how to hide and somewhat fix the neck sags.

It also talks about using sunscreen on the face and neck. Thankfully I've been doing that forever.
So what am I going to do with this find of mine?
I'm going to test it out.
Starting this coming Tuesday... I am going to do these exercises for six weeks and I'll take before and after (egad) photos of myself to really show if they work .

What has got me on this health kick? For one, my mom is going to the gym and has been telling me to START NOW while I'm still young! Second, I just had major blood test taken and I'm a little nervous about the results. I haven't been eating very good, but change is coming. It's summer and fresh fruits and veggies are going to be plentiful. Last of all-I promised myself I would change things for the better in my life before I turned 50. I want to be healthy so my husband and I can have fun in our retirement years AND be able to keep with all our grandchildren.
The big question is...
Does anybody want to join me?

Why don't you start a 6 week challenge for your followers...I'd be willing. Don't know about photos though, yuck!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny Darla, on my first draft I put on the end "Does anybody want to join me?" Then second guessed myself, took it off. I'm going to go put it back up there! I hope you do join me Darla!
Deleteoh my word robin..you are so pretty..i'm sure you would look fine sleeveless now..lol.
ReplyDeleteha..maybe i need to do that..i HATE my arms..ack.
i do however use 70spf on my face and neck everyday that i leave the house!
Tristan: Sunscreen is key! I'm so happy to hear you are using it. Make sure it's PABA free. Thanks for the nice compliments girl! I'm still looking okay but noticing a few sags wanting to have their way. My main concern is that Osteoporosis runs in my family and working out with weights is important at keeping those bones strong.
DeleteI'd love to have you join in the "FUN!"
I do, I do!!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteLet us know when we start and what we need to do Coach. Darla :)
ReplyDeleteI joined a gym beginning of March; I turn 40 next fall and want to get into better shape(get into shape? lol) before than. Good luck Robin!
ReplyDeleteamen sister I am only a few years from 50 and started working toward a healthier me last year. I have ups and downs and for the life of me can't lose a pound. I need to try what your mom did but haven't got it yet. I just heard about almond oil for you face as well suppose to leave your skin feeling and looking wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you are getting a early start on it. The Safflower oil tends to take inches off not so much pounds and only around the tummy. It's worked for a few people I know. I like Almond oil, it smells great too!
DeleteOh I will join you! But pictures.. HA!!! I already work out 5-6 days a week, just cant shed a pound. But, at least its good for the heart and bones!
ReplyDeleteOkey Dokie Pam... We start TUESDAY! This is only about arms and neck (for right now) I get to be photographed today... joy joy.
DeleteI wish I had started doing the neck exercise a few years back. I am 52 and I have noticed my neck showing my age more then my face. I wonder if it will work even after the sagging has started?
ReplyDeleteCherrie, My mom and I were talking about the same thing... Will it work if the saggy's have already started? I'm willing to find out, can't hurt that's for sure! ;)
DeleteOh boy! I am having such angst in how - all of a sudden - my arms look like they are waving back at me. Having flashbacks of my 3rd grade teacher's arms. Thanks a bunch for the links and the motivation. Good luck to you, too!!!
ReplyDeleteBecky
I know, I know, seems like it happens over night. Hopefully we can help firm things up a bit! Thanks! Best to you~
DeleteI've done this for a few days and boy are my neck muscles sore. So I think it could be working, using muscles I don't normally use!
ReplyDeleteI replied on your blog :)
DeleteMy neck is no longer sore it was just for the first couple of days. That's why I thought maybe it was muscles I don't use often enough.
ReplyDeleteSOOO happy to hear this and THRILLED you are doing this workout with me!
